Currently, I am reading a novel, a digital novel actually, which was written by Cornelia Funke by the title Ink Heart. I believe you’ve never heard of her or her book before but I can assure you, it’s a great book. Well, I haven’t finished it. As a matter of fact, I’ve just reached the first few chapters.
For those who know me, that might sounds like a bad thing. I have the tendency to finish a book as fast as I can if I enjoy the book. But, the only reason why I’m quite slow reading this book is because I simply don’t have the time. Not that I use all my time for more important constructive things. I really do enjoy this book; I was even captivated by only the first sentences.
Personally, what I find really amazing about this book is the way the author tells us the story. It is set in a quite modern world like the world we live in but it reads like an entirely different world. There are things like cars, policemen, cell phones and flashlights but they seem like minor details to this world. Ever so often, I thought that I was reading a story that was set in medieval time. Of course there are things like a weird creature and poetic fantasy names such as Silvertongue, Dustfinger and Capricon that build up the medieval-like sensation.
I was reminded of Harry Potter and LOTR when I read this book. Well, I believe eventually it will turn out to be such a book. I’ll let you know more when I have finished reading it.
Anyway, this book tells a story about a young girl by the name Meggie. She’s quite a bookworm and she loves books a lot which she inherited from her father. Her normal life is disturbed by a sudden visit by a mysterious man in the middle of a rainy midnight. From here on, she has to leave her house and embark on a journey to unravel all bizarre mysterious things that out of the blue pour down onto her life endlessly. Okay, I won’t spoil the story anymore as I want to continue reading this book. If you are interested in a digital copy of this book, do let me know.
